Maintenance Specs

Like I did with the TR4, I'm putting together a list of basic specifications for servicing the Tunebug. There is always a lot of discussion (flame wars, etc.) about oils and such, but this is what I have decided to use, at least as a starting point. Keep in mind that your mileage may vary, and that I am not an expert in any way.

Dashpots10w30 (still experimenting), can also use Automatic Transmission Fluid, straight weight motor oil (10, 15, 30) or Marvel Mystery Oil
Ideal oil pressure30 - 60 psi when warm, 10 - 25 at idle
Idle900 RPM (should be 550 RPM on fresh engine)
Point gap.014 to .016
Spark plugs
Spark plug gap.024 to .026
Valve clearances.012 cold
Tire Pressures
Tire Size (stock discs)155/80R13 (5.20 x 13S Bias Ply or 145SR x 13 radial are the original size)
Brake FluidDOT 4, Castrol GT LMA
Fuses35 amp Lucas fuses, Moss #146-700 (note, these are not the same fuses you get in standard parts stores!)
Shock Oil
BatteryGroup 24 (reverse terminal location is 24F)
